Beyond Doubt
Short version: the game keeps an email address so you can sign in, a display name so the leaderboard has something to print, and a record of the boards you finished. Nothing else, and none of it is sold or shared.
And why each piece exists
Your email address. It is the sign-in. There are no passwords; a six-digit code is mailed to the address and expires in ten minutes. The address is not used for anything else and there is no mailing list to be added to.
Your display name. Whatever you type. It appears on the leaderboards beside your times. It does not have to be your name.
Your play records. For each board you start: which board, when you started and finished, your time, how many hints you used and how many mistakes you made. This is what the leaderboard, the streak and the archive are made of.
Nothing on your device but your own settings. Your theme, language, accessibility choices and — if you play without an account — your local scores live in your browser's own storage. They never leave it. Clearing site data clears them.
Deliberately absent
There are no advertising trackers, no analytics scripts, no third-party cookies and no profile built about you. The game does not ask for your location, your contacts or your real name. IP addresses are used only in the moment, to rate-limit sign-in attempts, and are discarded on a rolling basis rather than stored against your account.
Three suppliers, each doing one job
The site runs on Vercel, the database is Neon Postgres, and sign-in codes are delivered by Resend. Each of them processes this data only to run the service. Data is stored in North America. Nobody buys, sells or rents it.
Both are buttons, not requests
Open Settings while signed in. Download my data gives you every row held about you as a JSON file. Delete my account erases your account, your runs and your leaderboard entries permanently — it asks for an emailed code and the word DELETE, and once it is done there is nothing to restore.

Not built for under-13s
The game is not directed at children under 13 and accounts are not knowingly created for them. If you believe a child has signed up, write to the address above and the account will be removed.
Dated, not silent
If this policy changes in a way that affects what is collected, the date below changes and a notice appears in the game. Last updated 22 August 2026.

Yours to keep, yours to close
An account is free and optional — every board is playable without one. You are responsible for the email address you sign in with and for what is done under your account. One account per person; a display name that is abusive, impersonates someone else or is used to advertise may be changed or removed.
The leaderboard is the only thing worth protecting
Play the boards as they are given. Automating play, scripting the API, sharing solutions before a board's day is over, or running several accounts to farm a leaderboard are all grounds for having results removed and the account closed. Archive boards are marked as played late and never count toward a streak — that is by design, not a bug to be worked around.
Not covered by anything here
The paintings and photographs in the game are the copyright of James Portman and are licensed for use in this game only. They may not be copied, reproduced or redistributed. Your result grid is yours: share it anywhere you like.
Honestly, not much
The game is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. It may be unavailable, lose data, or stop existing. Boards are deterministic and can be regenerated, but scores and streaks are not guaranteed against loss. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law; otherwise, liability is limited to what you paid to play, which is nothing.
Either side, any time
You may delete your account at any time from Settings. Accounts may be suspended or closed for breaking the fair-play terms above. These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada.
